Knocked-Up Fitness DVD Review: Worth it or Skip it?

I first came across Knocked-Up Fitness around the time I was meeting with Lindsay Brin with Moms into Fitness and studying up on prenatal fitness. I was super excited when I got pregnant with this little guy to give these workouts a try. Check out Lindsay Brin’s prenatal fitness DVD review and the What to Expect Workout DVD review for more information on prenatal fitness. If you have been a regular blog reader, you are probably already aware that I get bored with workouts very quickly. I have found with this pregnancy that things haven’t changed. There are a lot of DVDs out there on prenatal fitness, but the majority of them are not very challenging. However, I have found that the Knocked-Up Fitness Prenatal Workouts are a great way to keep up your healthy and fit lifestyle throughout your pregnancy. Review: What to Expect Workout DVD

During this pregnancy, I have looked for ways to workout that is healthy for both me and baby. I started out with Lindsay Brin’s Prenatal Fitness DVDs (which I reviewed in an earlier post), but soon was looking for something that would be a great supplement to that and help me change things up a little more. I tend to get bored pretty easily with workout DVDs. Perfect timing: What to Expect released a workout DVD in early December 2012! Who hasn’t heard about the “What to Expect when you are Expecting” books in the pregnancy/momma world? The book was originally published in 1985 by Heidi Murkoff and has since become the “go-to” resource for pregnancy. They recently released a funny movie starring Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Anna Kendrick, and many more. Definitely a must see movie on the good and bad of pregnancy. Now they {Read More…}

Do you know that exercising through your pregnancy can help both you and your baby, not only during the 9 months of pregnancy, but also during your recovery and well into mommyhood? I had started doing some research about pre/post-pregnancy fitness and nutrition when I first started OB nursing. I enjoyed my OB patients and they had lots of questions, not only on motherhood and taking care of baby, but they wanted to know what they should do and how long it would take to get their bodies back. You can get your body back but research has found it can be easier if you stay active and fit during pregnancy. Now that I am expecting, I have been doing exhaustive research about exercising while pregnant because I want to know WHY I am putting in all this extra work daily when most of the time I just feel like {Read More…}

Review: Lindsay Brin's Pregnancy Workout DVDs

When I was first working in OB as a Registered Nurse, I got introduced to Lindsay Brin’s blog and Moms into Fitness pre/postnatal information. A lot of my postpartum moms I was taking care of were looking for some great resources for getting back into shape after they were cleared by their doctors. I was able to correspond with Lindsay and even got to work out with her mommy fitness group when I still lived in St. Louis. She is super sweet and helped me get started on my road to helping moms get healthy and fit. I truly enjoyed her fitness for moms class and was very excited to try her pregnancy DVD series when I found out I was pregnant with this little guy! I have been into health and fitness for most of my life, but during my first trimester I just couldn’t get motivated. I did {Read More…}

My Favorite Gift this Year: I'm Pregnant! Boy or Girl?

I have had a few of you faithful followers ask me if I am still around and when I’ll be back to posting on a regular basis again. Well…I am back and with a big announcement! I’m pregnant! And my favorite Christmas gift this year was finding out that we will have a little man around here come the beginning of May! Isn’t he cute? That’s also my “excuse” for going on a blogging hiatus the past few months. I am currently 20 weeks (halfway there! Yay!) and it has really been only the past month that I have my energy and appetite back. I am still working full-time with four, 10-hour days with my nursing students. During the first trimester, I had picked up teaching a few more classes which had me working 6 days a week most of the time! All I can say is I signed up {Read More…}
