Have you ever tried a diet vacation friday?
Losing weight is hard. In order to lose weight you have to make drastic changes in your daily routine from what you eat to how active you are.
In making these changes it is always easier to incorporate small changes into your daily life slowly so these new behaviors can become habit. But, if losing weight and regaining your health were easy, 60% of the U.S. population would not be overweight or obese.
It is not for lack of will power that the majority of U.S. adults are overweight. Losing weight is hard.
When you decide to go on a diet, it takes some work. It involves giving up some of your favorite unhealthy foods which can include pizza, ice cream, chips, French fries, or whatever else you love.
Who wants to deprive themselves for life of what they truly enjoy? I have yet to come across someone who actually enjoys giving up some of their unhealthy food choices in place of healthy alternatives.
So, where does that you leave you on your road to health and weight loss? What are you going to try next to help you regain your health and reach your weight goals? Are you going to go after the next fad diet that hits the market place by storm? Or are you going to choose healthy food and lifestyle behaviors that you can continue to follow for life? By choosing healthy living options, you can lose weight, regain your health, prevent diseases, and keep healthy for life!
Do choosing healthy eating habits have to be as painful as going on a very restrictive diet? Absolutely not!
There are so many varieties of whole foods that it is virtually impossible to get bored. Get creative!
Does choosing to go on a healthy eating plan for life mean you can no longer eat some of your favorite foods? Absolutely not!
I love recommending to my clients the concept of Diet Vacation Fridays! This is where you allow yourself one day a week to have some of your favorite foods. This does not mean you can go wild on these days with unhealthy food options, but it allows you to have your day to eat your cheesecake or have pizza for dinner.
Choose a few of your favorite foods and enjoy your Diet Vacation Fridays (or whichever day of the week you would prefer)! This allows you to not deprive yourself of the things in life you enjoy, but keeps it under control so you can stay on your road to ultimate health and weight loss.
