I have had a few of you faithful followers ask me if I am still around and when I’ll be back to posting on a regular basis again. Well…I am back and with a big announcement!
I’m pregnant! And my favorite Christmas gift this year was finding out that we will have a little man around here come the beginning of May!
That’s also my “excuse” for going on a blogging hiatus the past few months. I am currently 20 weeks (halfway there! Yay!) and it has really been only the past month that I have my energy and appetite back.
I am still working full-time with four, 10-hour days with my nursing students. During the first trimester, I had picked up teaching a few more classes which had me working 6 days a week most of the time! All I can say is I signed up for all that BEFORE I knew I was pregnant.
I definitely do not recommend working that much for your 1st trimester! It was all I could do to make it home on my commute before falling asleep.
I also had the preconceived notion that because I workout out on a regular basis before pregnancy, I would still have the energy to keep up the workouts during pregnancy. Definitely did not happen that way in reality!
My plant-based eating habits and regular workouts went WAYYY out the window. I am so thankful for my wonderful hubby who stepped up to the plate and took care of pretty much everything around the house since my energy level and morning sickness (or all day sickness), had me pretty worthless for a few months.
Love, love, love this 2nd trimester though! I am back to eating well and working out.
For all you fellow ladies with PCOS it is very important to eat a plant-based diet and workout regularly since we are at an increased risk for pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure that can lead to seizures) and gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy). These can both be very bad for mom and baby. I can do a blog post on those if you’d like; just let me know!
I have had a pretty eventful year in 2012. I struggled with infertility, was diagnosed with PCOS, started fertility treatments, and now am expecting baby!
As we go into the New Year, I will be bringing you more great blog posts on how get healthy and fit with some articles thrown in there on some new topics such as infertility, PCOS, and pregnancy. If I am brave enough as the pregnancy progresses, I might even share some of the good, bad, and ugly of this pregnancy.
